Is this text-to-speech tool free?
Yes. This web tool is free and requires no account. You can convert up to 10,000 characters at a time. For longer text, choose an excerpt or split it into separate conversions.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Your text, imported documents and generated audio stay in your browser.
Why does the first visit need a download?
Voices download automatically so speech can be generated on your device. Saved voices are reused on later visits. You can type while they load.
Can I use it offline?
Saved voices can be reused, but opening the page or selecting a new voice may still need an internet connection. Clearing browser data means voices will need to download again. You can download your audio to listen offline.
Can I download the audio as MP3?
This web tool currently downloads WAV audio. MP3 export is not available yet. The WAV file can be played in compatible audio players after you download it.
Can I read PDFs or EPUB books here?
This web tool currently supports pasted text and TXT or DOCX files, up to 10 MB per file. For PDFs and EPUB books, use the SayTXT iOS or Android App. See our PDF App guide ↗ or EPUB App guide ↗.
Which languages and voices can I use?
Choose from 31 reading languages and six voices. Select the language of your text before generating speech.
Can I use it on my phone?
Desktop Chrome and Edge are recommended for this web tool. Speed and memory use depend on your browser and device; mobile browsers may struggle with longer passages. For listening on your phone, you can choose the SayTXT iOS or Android App below.
